Elevating The Next Wave of Midwest Startup Entrepreneurs

It’s not really a secret anymore — the midwest is the new breeding ground for startup entrepreneurs who are looking to build real, impactful businesses. Companies in software, healthcare, fintech, and other growing industries are building a nationwide presence from the heart of America. As a Columbus, Ohio-based entrepreneur, I’ve met some of the most intelligent and visionary individuals within this midwest ecosystem.

I have dedicated a lot of time and effort into helping companies grow and scale products through the user experience design and software development company, Ghost Lab. Through this platform, it’s become apparent to me that connecting startups with a network of impactful peers, mentors, and advisors can be key to giving entrepreneurs the resources to think big and work harder.

Our next step to help growing startup culture in the midwest is the creation of a Downtown Columbus coworking space and venture studio within our new Ghost Lab headquarters.

I’ve wrote about the future of the Columbus tech and startup community in the past. The Central Ohio region’s startup growth has gained the eyes of tech investors and entrepreneurs across the nation. In 2018, Columbus was ranked as the #5 city for entrepreneurs and startups in all of America. With eyes on our startup community, I want to encourage and elevate rising student entrepreneurs by fostering a culture of collaboration, a space to work and grow, and entrepreneurship coaching from real business owners. The CEO of one of my ventures, Studium, and I have partnered with The Ohio State University’s Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship to work with the next wave of startup entrepreneurs in the region as they journey into entrepreneurship.

As a young entrepreneur, you need to learn to value the feedback and direction of others who have been in your position, even as you forge your own path. While a freshman at Ohio State not too long ago, I know I would have loved access to this resource as I was first starting Ghost Lab and other startups. I owe some key mentors for pushing me to think bigger than I was ever asked to so I could work towards building a vision bigger than I ever expected to be apart of. I hope I can give that perspective and resources to future entrepreneurs in my own community, as well as welcome individuals from all over the midwest to join our mission.
